The colder it gets, the more people focus on their furnaces and keeping them up and running. As a company that provides HVAC repair in St Paul, we encounter a lot of the same problems frequently. Here are a few of the most common HVAC repair jobs we do.
This common complaint is usually easily resolved, thankfully! Because what’s worse than a cold winter night when your home has no heat? A lot of the HVAC repair calls we get complain that the furnace is not producing any heat. We check on a few things first. We check to make sure the thermostat is working properly in the first place. If it is, then we will check the thermostat to make sure it’s not set too low to call the heat.
If those two things are working fine, then it is time to check the circuit breaker on the furnace. Was a fuse tripped or even blown? From there, we will see if the natural gas or propane control valve is closed or if the pilot light is out. Finally, if all of that checks out okay, we will make sure there isn’t a problem with the ignition.
Not Enough Heat
Usually, the main culprit here is the air filter. This is something you can change on your own, and air filters are usually pretty inexpensive. Of course, if you have any doubt or are unsure of what to do, you can call on our HVAC repair company for help! If the filter is clean, then your gas burner may need to be adjusted or cleaned. We can also check to make sure that there isn’t an obstruction in the air flow to the combustion chamber.
